I am going to do this workshop but I am worried that people will take my stuff and use it and teach it themselves! This is a statement that I heard and read about no less that three times this past week. I find it fascinating that we want to teach our information but we don’t want people to share it!
Why bother putting it out there if what you really want is to keep it for yourself? In fairness, when I first started out teaching certain subjects I had that same concern but over time I learned that if we really want to have an impact on the world we need to let people run with whatever material we can give them.
A mentor of mine and leadership GURU , John Maxwell says, these ideas are written here for your use. Use them and teach them and when you start out give me credit for the ideas but soon you will become so comfortable with them you will own them and I am ok with that.
This is what a good leader does. I learned a long time ago that I would rather give the people my information so that at least they have a guide that was given to them. No one can teach your material like you can but they can use it, practice with it and share it with others. I have also learned that a great many people collect the information and keep it for themselves.
This is why when you do your Basic Intensive in Choice Theory, Reality Therapy, Lead Management/Quality Schools with me you will receive a binder with a lot of handouts that you can take back to your workplace and begin to use immediately. I will even give you a copy of my power point slides electronically once you have completed the first level of training. I expect you to share, share, share.
