One of our very basic needs it the need for power! When I say that to people the usual response is something like: “What? I don’t need power!”. Is that really true? Let’s think about that for a minute.

I understand the reluctance to accept this. After all power is generally defined this way:

“Power is defined as the ability to act or have influence over others. An example of power is the strength needed to run five miles. An example of power is the authority a local government has to collect taxes.’

When I talk about power. I understand it in three ways. There is power over which is described above, power with and power within. Minimally we all want control over our own lives.

We naturally learn about power over right from birth. After all, we cry and someone jumps to our attention and looks after us and we keep using different behavior to get other people to do for us until it does not work anymore.

This is a huge subject and one that we spend a fair bit of time talking about in our training. We talk about the strength of the needs. We need to have the power to make decisions, the power to run our own lives and not the lives of others. Sometimes we even give our power away! So much to learn and discuss.

If this speaks to you why not join us Feb 3,4,5 for our next Basic Intensive in Choice Theory, Reality Therapy and Lead Management. You can sign up here and I will send you the next steps. www.choicetheorytraining.com  Registration closes this Friday January 29 at 5pm. We are going virtual so it will all be online.

Yours in growing awareness
