Today I took my car in for it’s annual spring-cleaning. I made myself a promise that when I bought this vehicle new I would go twice a year and have it shampooed and cleaned so it felt like it just came off the lot! I am planning to keep this one for a good long time and I want to enjoy it too. We spend a lot of time in our vehicle when we are travelling and having it clean and free from clutter makes all the difference in the world in how we enjoy our trip.
When I stopped into the shop today, my friend who owns it was not there but his new manager was. Within minutes I was very happy for my friend. Here was this other man managing the place as if he owned it.
We had a few minutes to chat while I was waiting for a lift to be home. He asked my what I do and I simply said I am in the people business and he said: “ me too”! I agreed with him. He told me that often time friends and other people ask him how he can work on a counter all day meeting all these people. He said that he simply tells them that he loves interacting with everyone.
Yes, there are days when a customer may not be in the best mood but he does what ever he can to help elevate their mood. He excused himself for a moment saying he had to check with his guys to see how they were doing and if they had their jobs organized. It gave me a chance to think about how upbeat this man is and how passionate he is about what he does.
Are you passionate in your work? Are you doing what you do with passion? It will show through to the outside world. When you love what you do and do what you love those around you will feel good too!
Seems we will have a few sunny days now so I hope you get out and enjoy the weather the rest of this week.
