“ There is always a simplicity about the present moment”. Eckhart Tolle. When I read this quote, I thought for a minute and then said to myself, “ this is so true”. Seriously, when you are being totally present with yourself or in other words consciously aware, it is really simple.
In reality, the present moment is all we have and as much as we believe we can control all the moments in our life, it is not always true. When you are present with yourself and others life becomes so much easier. Eckhart Tolle just said it differently.
If you are focusing on the past, then you are not present. If what you focus on in the past is pain then guess what, you will get more pain in the present, If you focus on your successes you will get more success in the present. Simple is it not?
What happens then when we focus on the future? We still are not in the present. If the future is about worrying about something that has not happened yet, then you will get more worry. If what you are focusing on in the future is your goals, dreams and aspirations with anticipation and excitement you will get more of that.
“Two percent of the people think; three percent think they think, and 95 percent would rather die than think.” Henry Ford
Thinking is a behaviour that we have control over. Yes, we have thoughts creep in and we wonder where they came from but we can choose to hang on to those thoughts or dismiss them. Thinking is one of four parts to our behaviour.
