Boss or Lead

Relationships are important and our Moncton Magic basketball team proved it over the weekend. They just returned home from a road trip where they lost 6 of 7 games. During that time they had a couple of injuries and as a result picked up some new players, who had not played with the team before.

They still played but the guys really did not know each other. Give them a week back home and an opportunity to work together as a team and learn to trust each other and they have a home game and win the game because they were more in sync and working together.

All teams work like this. In the workplace you may be working in a team environment, but what happens when one team member moves on and someone new is added to the team. Does the team move on expecting the new member to just know what to do? In the ideal situation, time is taken to build relationships and model the behavior and work you want to see and expect. It is done so in a friendly environment where workers want to do the best they can do. Be winners!

What I am describing is the quality work place. There are many kinds of managers. Some have said managers are there to manage the work while leaders lead people but I would like to say that the best case would be that managers be leaders. In other words Lead Managers as opposed to Boss Managers.

This is exactly how we run our training programs. We are there to facilitate your growth in a warm, friendly and caring environment. We help you grow in the way that you want to. We have fun while learning. By the way, the work place should be a place where you can have some fun as well.

If you want to learn more, join us February 5,6,7, 2019 for the first level of a five level certificate training program approved through William Glasser International.
