Have you noticed any changes on your favorite TV shows? I do not spend a lot of time watching TV, but I do like to watch one or two shows. This past weekend, I was watching two TV shows both part of a series.
Some of the producers of these shows really get it. They are asking their followers to stay engaged! I don’t know if you have noticed this but one such show said on screen at the end of the show, “ Come On! You Knew this was going to Happen!” See you next week! It was a thriller that kept us on the edge of our seat. I could not help but laugh when I saw that. I enjoyed the comment simply because it was different than the usual “ To Be Continued”.
The other show we watched was a season final, and there was a huge explosion and we are left wondering if anyone survived. At the end of this show, they said on screen, “this is the season finale and you will have to return next fall to see what happens. We can’t tell you now but please follow us on twitter and facebook.”
This was equally funny to me. How involved to we become with the characters in these shows that we follow for entertainment? It is just that, entertainment but it occurred to me: is this not what we have become in real life? An event happens and we follow it on twitter and facebook. This is just a TV show but they want you to stay engaged even when it is off the air.
Both of these producers recognize the value of their customers and they want to keep their customers coming back. How do you engage with your customers? Are you invitational? Do you invite them to come back or follow you somewhere?
